Fair Like the Moon

Song of Songs bears a special meaning for me, as my name is derived from it.

 

This piece is one of a pair.

 

The young woman lies on her bed at night thinking of her beloved, with the dawn rises outside the windows. The skyline of Jerusalem at night appears on the left.  ​

 

The fabric in these pieces is a hand-dyed cotton sateen and it is a very prominent part of the quilt. The artwork combines painting with oil-sticks, hand embroidery and machine quilting.
